Welcome to Roadtrippin’ with Krystal and Jamie. Follow our adventures to see how we promote CASA and recruit new volunteers. And remember, we are always looking for new advocates. Do you want to be a BIG VOICE for a Little Texan?

Surf’s Up

0k, so CASA girls may not actually be surfing, but we are in Galveston! The annual Texas CASA Conference has arrived and our crew has roadtripped down to spend a few days having fun, networking, and most importantly, learn how to continue to be effective advocates for kids. Continue to follow along here and Facebook to keep up with our crazy adventures (like trying on OPRAH’s shoes!). IMG_4304

Ice Cream! Ice Cream!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

What a great day for ice cream. We had a wonderful time yesterday visiting with the workers at Caterpillar during their Ice Cream Social!

It was a great opportunity for Caterpillar employees to visit numerous local non-profit organizations and learn about how each organization helps the community. We are proud to work alongside these groups as a United Way Community Partner!

While it was fun to getting to know the workers, of course we are always trying to recruit new volunteers to become “Big Voices for Little Texans!”

Summer Extravaganza!

We have been keeping busy this summer with our inaugural “Summer Extravaganza” With events ranging from “Muffin Monday” to “Donut you know we appreciate you Friday” and everything in between, we hope our volunteers know just how much we value all they do for the children of Grayson County.

Our Summer Bingo has been a great hit, and we can’t wait to see who might win the GRAND PRIZE! Our volunteers are the heart of our organization, so again, THANK YOU!

Summer Fun!

To many people, summer means a period of rest and relaxation, often at the beach or by the pool. While that does sound nice, Krystal and Jamie have been hard at work preparing the Summer Extravaganza for all of the wonderful CASA volunteers. We have been roadtrippin’ around Texoma picking up prizes from our wonderful sponsors. Volunteers, remember to bring in your completed bingo cards for a chance to win some AWESOME prizes!

We are also excited to announce that CASA of Grayson County has a NEW WEBSITE! Visit us at CASAGrayson.com.

Austin City Limits

The CASA staff has been busy the past few weeks, expanding our road trip outside of Grayson County. Krystal took a trip down I-35 to visit the Texas CASA office in Austin. She spent two jam packed days learning how to be a more effective recruiter from her awesome trainer Dave. She came back with some great ideas on how she can continue to spread CASA’s message and recruit more advocates to become “Big Voices for Little Texans!”

Safely back in Sherman, Krystal and Jamie visited the Child Advocacy Center to deliver some delicious (but not homemade) cookies to their hard-working staff. All of us at the CASA of Grayson County office wants to thank them for all they do and congratulate them on their successful fundraiser, The Cattleman’s Ball.

Remember, we are always seeking dedicated individuals to become CASA advocates. Every child has a chance- it’s you. For more information on becoming a CASA, contact Krystal at 903-813-5400!

On the road again

We have been busy this week making multiple stops on our roadtrip adventures. We were asked to join Nueva Creacion on Sunday for their morning service as they participated in Blue Sunday. They welcomed us into their church and allowed us and the Grayson County Child Advocacy’s Center to speak to their congregation about what our organizations do and how their members may be able to help. We were blessed that they asked to pray over not only the children of Grayson County but our organizations and all the volunteers who serve the children.

Our next stop was at Van Alstyne Elementary School. We enjoyed visiting with the hard working teachers during their lunch break and we loved answering all of their questions regarding what CASA is, what we do and how they can become “A Big Voice for a Little Texan.”Van Alstyne Elementary School

Van Alstyne Middle School

Good afternoon everyone! This morning we had the privilege of visiting with the hard working teachers of Van Alstyne Middle School. We had a great time explaining how CASA works and how CASA volunteers interact with school faculty and staff. We are excited that a few teachers are interested in becoming CASAs as well! Of course, no Texas road trip is complete without a stop at Dairy Queen!

Thank you Van Alstyne Middle School for your hospitality. Go Panthers!

Howe Elementary

This morning’s adventures led us to Howe, Texas. We spent the morning visiting with faculty and staff sharing with them information on the advocacy of CASA and recruiting new volunteers. We want to thank the wonderful teachers at the elementary school for spending part of their lunch breaks with us while we explained to them how they could be a “Big Voice for a Little Texan!” Go Bulldogs!

Plug-in Texoma!

4/11/2017 Plug-in Texoma

Good morning everyone! Welcome to this week’s addition of Roadtrippin’ with Krystal and Jamie.  This morning we participated in the weekly Plug-in Texoma meeting with other members of the Texoma Community. We reminded everyone to “Wear Blue” to support child abuse awareness month and handed out new CASA car decals. Also on the agenda was to inform others in the community of our new initiative to get out the word of who CASA is and what we do! Remember, we will be happy to come to your place of business or office and inform your employees how they too can “Be a BIG VOICE for a Little Texan” by becoming a CASA!
